We are helping communities out of poverty by giving them the tools for sustainable livelihoods
We believe that a ‘hands up’ approach, rather than handouts or emergency aid, is the most effective long-term solution to poverty. Giving struggling communities the means and tools to establish sustainable livelihoods increases their chances of a more stable and secure economic future. It also means reducing their reliance on charity or aid – but to get there, we need to invest in livelihoods, which requires your help.
Donating for a better future is more of an investment than a gift. Families with sustainable wages have a better quality of life in the long run. As a result, children have a greater chance of getting a better education, which improves their educational prospects; communities’ economic activity increases, and more jobs are created. Economic empowerment has the added advantage of increasing community resilience and reducing dependence on foreign assistance.
Our livelihood projects have provided communities with not only physical assets but also training and resources, enabling them to fully benefit from economic empowerment. We’ve helped over 100 people make a living from beekeeping, and we’ve given local women the tools they need to start sewing businesses.
